General Study Abroad Course

For the General Study Abroad Course, you will learn Japanese for a period of 1 to 2 years after admission into the school and upon obtaining a Student Visa.

Students are sorted based on their current level of Japanese and learning style.

① Accurate pronunciation guidance will be provided by a native Japanese speaker.

② Through collaborative learning in class, students will expand their vocabulary and develop their listening, conversational, comprehension and self-expression skills.

③ By reading “Good Teaching Materials”, students will build their logical-thinking ability communication skills which will be useful for vocational schools, universities, graduate schools as well as work and life in Japan.

We will also teach exam strategies for students to pass their Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1-N3.

For students who wish to go to vocational schools, universities and graduate schools, our experienced staffs will guide them through the application process.

For those who wish to enter university, you can also take courses (Japanese/General subjects) that are necessary for the Examination for Japanese University Admission (EJU)


Japanese Proficiency Required: All Levels

A placement test will be conducted upon admission to determine initial level of Japanese.

Visa Type: Student Visa

Admission Period and Length of Study: Students will graduate in March each year

April Admission: 1 year or 2 years

July Admission: 1 year and 9 months

October Admission: 1 year and 6 months

January Admission: 1 year and 3 months

Summary of each level

Elementary I

・Pronunciation is key. Guidance for pronunciation will be provided.

・Basic grammar, Kanji (about 200 words), vocabulary (about 1000 words) learnt through oral practice to master the comprehension and communication skills for daily life.

・Build vocabulary, develop composition skills to describe ourselves and things happening around us.

・Offer accurate pronunciation guide

・Develop higher level listening skills through audio equipment

・Learn basic grammar, Kanji (around 300 words), vocabulary (around 1000 words) and how to communicate their ideas to others through collaborative learning in class.

・Develop the ability to think from a global perspective through reading a large number of well-written articles about Japan

Pre-Intermediate Level

・Able to use basic sentence structures to communicate with people

・Able to express themselves competently through “reading and discussing well-written articles to foster interest for the society and logical thinking”

・Learn and use vocabulary and grammar equivalent to N3 Level of Japanese in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)

・Cultivate interest in Japanese society and learn to live in a multi-cultural society through extra-curricular activities

・Learn and use vocabulary and grammar equivalent to N2 Level of Japanese in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) competently by focusing on the teaching methods.

・Develop the ability to listen to others’ opinions and to express their opinions clearly through reading and discuss well-written and coherent Japan-related articles.

・Cultivate interest in Japanese society and learn to live in a multi-cultural society through extra-curricular activities

Academic Japanese for listening comprehension for International Students – Intermediate Level ( 3A Corporation)

Japanese 2nd Step (Hakuteisha)

Intermediate II

・Japanese language education is to develop these 4 skills (listening, comprehension, composition, self-expression) that are necessary for Japanese higher educational institutions.

・Develop listening comprehension ability, scanning text (extracting information), skimming text (look for main ideas)

・We will develop the ability to read articles logically  and interactively.  By reading interactively, we will also develop writing skills: summary skills (shorten the text to 1/3 of its original length, writing concisely), generalization (convey the intent of the text with 1/5 of the content)

・Interactive class activities: Hold interviews, discussions and debates, to nurture the ability to communicate ideas to others.

・Through these type of class activities, we aim to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2 Level and score 230 and higher for  the Japanese component of the Examination for Japanese University Admission.

・In academic writing, we will develop descriptive composition skills (to describe events in 400 to 500 words) and expository writing skills (to express opinions in 800-1000 words)

・Expand knowledge in a wide range of topics and develop comprehension ability, in order to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 Level and score 300 and higher for  the Japanese component of the Examination for Japanese University Admission  (MARCH)

Advanced II

・Class activities such as writing reports, presentations, assisting others and independent learning will help students to understand the power of collaboration and to gather and understand information in order to solve a problem independently.

・For academic writing, we will learn to convey ideas to others by writing papers, self-recommendation letters and research proposal etc.

・For book reports, students will read a book written in Japanese and communicate the storyline and their thoughts on the story to others.

・For students’ presentations, they are to research a topic of interest, read literature on the topic and craft and deliver a concise summary within 10 minutes.

・Through these type of class activities, we aim to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 Level and score 330 and higher for  the Japanese component of the Examination for Japanese University Admission. (Waseda University)
